Chadwick Way

Chadwick Way pays homage to Roy Chadwick who was famous for designing the Avro Lancaster bomber, its follow-up the Avro Lincoln and the preliminary designs of the Avro Vulcan V bomber.

A portrait of Chadwick with an Avro Lancaster and the Avro logo is displayed in the Renold Building at the University of Manchester

He began work for Avro in 1911. When starting to design entire planes, he was based here at Hamble.

Design work began at A. V. Roe in 1947 under Roy Chadwick.
