Hamble Sea Angling Club News
Four Hamble club members travelled to Dartmouth to fish The National Federation Of Sea Anglers British Boat Fishing Championship on the 10th and 11th May.

Fifty of the best anglers from all over Britain were taking part so the competition proved to be very tough.

The first day was fished on the Mid Channel Wrecks with Ling, Conger and Pollack the main target species. The second day was fished over The Inshore Reefs for smaller species such as Plaice, Whiting and Wrasse.

After the two days fishing the four man team of Rob Shattock, Cliff Newbold, Tony Spridgeon and guest Jim Whippy came second in the team competition, which was a very good result as the other teams were all regional teams with the best four anglers from their Counties. Cliff Newbold teamed up with Jim Whippy to win the two man team event. Cliff also took fourth place individual and also had the heaviest fish and the best specimen on a remarkably successful weekend.

Unfoirtunately club member Colin Searles was unable to fish in the four man team due to the rule of only having one International Angler in any team. However Colin did have a successful weekend winning the L.A Hastilow Cup for the most Cod caught over the weekend.

These successes alone would have made a great weekend but it got better still with Rob Shattock winning on both days, scoring by far the highest points total to be crowned British Boat Fishing Champion.

An absolutely brilliant result for Rob himself and an amazingly successful competition for Hamble Club
