Many of you will have seen the railway lines that skirt through Hamble, but will have never seen a locomotive engine actually crossing Hamble Lane. This is a picture sent to me recently of a Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 at the level crossing in Hamble Lane.

The line crossing Hamble lane nearer the village is not part of the passenger rail network. The passenger line is situated further up Hamble Lane running upder the hump back bridge between the two schools, linking Hamble to Southamton Central and Portsmouth.
