John Charles Dennis Stratton
1955 - 2007

If you asked anyone in Hamble who John Stratton was few would know the name. If you said "Budgie" then just about everyone would nod and smile.

Budgie was the landlord of The Victory Inn for twelve years and in that time became a well-known and well-loved member of our community.

Budgie died from a brain-tumour in 2007.

At his memorial service at St Andrew's Church pipers played "Flower of Scotland" in loving tribute and eight-hundred people packed the church and spilled out into the churchyard, such was his standing in the Hamble community.

Budgie is gone but, ask anyone in Hamble, not forgotten.
