The Gun House
Before the house was renamed The Gun House it was known as "The Munford's" after the family who owned it. The outhouses, dated 1817, held stables and a brewhouse. The copper tuns used for brewing are still in position next to the fireplace in the outhouse though one appears to have been removed to make a planter in the garden!
The porch features two oak benches and above a small square room known as the Guardroom. Though the room now has only one window facing onto the road it originally had two more windows which gave a commanding view down to the waterfront and up Hamble Lane.

Deeds to the house mention that their was a turnpike road from the house to the Hamble waterfront. Perhaps the house was formally used as a toll house for this turnpike road?
