Today's firefighter in Hamble is confronted with many risks, amongst them are a flotilla of craft moored in the River Hamble with an estimated value in excess of £100 million, a large number of ship builders and repairers, a petroleum storage and distribution depot and an increasing local population.
Hamble has a "retained" fire station, manned by a dedicated and highly trained volunteer force of local men and women as well as two full time staff members. |
