Hamble Fire Station

Today's firefighter in Hamble is confronted with many risks, amongst them are a flotilla of craft moored in the River Hamble with an estimated value in excess of £100 million, a large number of ship builders and repairers, a petroleum storage and distribution depot and an increasing local population.

Hamble has a "retained" fire station, manned by a dedicated and highly trained volunteer force of local men and women as well as two full time staff members.

Volunteer members give up their evenings and weekends to attend training sessions. They need to be on call during the working day and need to live or work in the locality. They have a high level of physical fitness and enthusiasm and need very much to be 'team players'. Safety and life depend on it.

Despite the seriousness of their business the Hamble Fire Service is also about fun. Every summer the Station throws open its doors to the public for its highly successful Open Day, a fund raising and community event especially loved by the local children!
